Shanghai Electric’s New Vessels Revolutionise Deep-Sea Wind Power Maintenance
Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group, a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric, has proudly delivered Asia’s first offshore wind power service and operation vessels (SOVs), named Zhizhen 100 and Zhicheng 60. The vessels, constructed by Zhenhua Heavy Industries, represent a significant advancement in offshore wind power maintenance, addressing key limitations of existing marine transport solutions.

Zhizhen 100 and Zhicheng 60 integrate advanced operation and maintenance technologies, embodying green and smart practices. They are crucial for advancing China’s offshore wind power capabilities and driving high-quality development in deep-sea energy exploration.”
Innovative Vessel Specifications
- Zhizhen 100: Measures 93.4 meters in length, 18 meters in beam, 7.6 meters in depth, and is designed to achieve a service speed of 12.3 knots.
- Zhicheng 60: Has a length of 72.76 meters, a beam of 17.5 meters, a depth of 7 meters, and a designed service speed of 12 knots.
- DP2 Dynamic Positioning System: Ensures precise positioning even in adverse sea conditions.
- Spacious Cargo Hold: Capable of storing heavy-duty wind turbine parts.
- Self-Sustaining Capacity: Operates independently for over 30 days.
The Zhizhen 100 and Zhicheng 60 are equipped with an advanced wave compensation system that stabilises hull movement, facilitating effective transfer of personnel and equipment. They also include a folding arm offshore crane, a workboat, a boarding frame, and an aluminium alloy helicopter platform.
Green and Smart Technology
The vessels utilise a diesel-electric and lithium battery hybrid system, featuring full electric propulsion and a DC busbar distribution system. They have been certified for hybrid power and green ship classifications by the China Classification Society (CCS). Additionally, an advanced smart operation system enhances maintenance efficiency and reduces labour intensity, extending operational capabilities.
