Finlandia Hall Reopens with New Experiences for All

    Michelle WatsonBy Michelle Watson03/01/2025Updated:03/01/2025

Finlandia Hall, one of Helsinki’s most iconic landmarks, will officially reopen its doors to the public on Saturday, 4 January 2025, after undergoing a transformative three-year renovation. This marks the first time the venue will be open daily to both residents and tourists. The revitalised Finlandia Hall will offer a broader selection of services, including a restaurant, wine café, accommodation, exhibition space, and a design shop.

    A Landmark Reimagined for All

Designed by world-renowned architect Alvar Aalto, Finlandia Hall has long been a hub for significant cultural and business events. Since its renovation began in early 2022, the hall has been reimagined as a shared space, inviting not just event and congress attendees but also everyday visitors seeking a unique leisure experience. The aim is to create a venue that serves as a daily destination for both locals and visitors.

    Enhanced Services at Finlandia Hall

The hall’s renovation has upgraded its infrastructure to accommodate a wide range of events, from large conferences and concerts to more intimate meetings. The versatile spaces, supported by advanced technology, will offer an elevated experience for all types of events. With a capacity to handle up to 200,000 visitors annually, the goal for 2025 is to double this figure, further cementing Finlandia Hall’s status as a premier destination in Helsinki.

Finlandia Bistro: A Fusion of Finnish and Mediterranean Flavours

Finlandia Hall introduces its first à la carte restaurant, Finlandia Bistro, which blends Finnish and Mediterranean influences. The restaurant reflects Aalto’s love for Italy, with a décor that complements his design legacy. Guests can enjoy a warm atmosphere created by the fusion of original Finnish art and Aalto’s iconic architecture.

Finlandia Café & Wine: Spectacular Views from a New Terrace

A new wine café at Finlandia Hall offers more than just quality beverages. With its newly opened viewing terrace, visitors can experience breathtaking views of Töölönlahti Bay. The terrace is open year-round, inviting guests to savour a variety of pastries, salads, and hot dishes, complemented by a selection of wines and refreshments.

Finlandia Shop: Unique Souvenirs and Finnish Design

The Finlandia Shop, located next to the café, will feature a curated collection of Finnish design products. Shoppers can find pieces from small Finnish design brands, as well as exclusive Finlandia Collection items, contemporary design objects, and Aalto products, making it the perfect stop for design enthusiasts.

Finlandia Homes: Experience Finnish Design Up Close

For a truly unique experience, Finlandia Hall now offers two restored apartments originally designed by Alvar Aalto. Once intended as staff accommodation, these rooms are now available for overnight stays, providing an authentic Finnish home atmosphere and the chance to experience Finnish design up close. With furnishings from Artek classics and the building’s original pieces, these rooms offer a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in Aalto’s design philosophy.

Finlandia Experience Exhibition: A Glimpse into Aalto’s Legacy

In June 2025, Finlandia Hall will launch a permanent exhibition showcasing the architectural and creative legacy of Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto. This exhibition will explore the diverse contributions of the Aalto family to modern architecture and Finnish design, offering an immersive experience for those interested in the evolution of design principles that have shaped Finland’s cultural identity.
