Recognition of Global Impact and Literature-Based Activism

Dawn Bates, the visionary founder of Dawn Bates International (DBI), has been honoured with a finalist spot in the Social Impact category for the prestigious National Business Women’s Awards 2024. This nomination acknowledges Bates’s significant contributions to global social change through her impactful writing and advocacy.

    Empowering Change Through Writing

Dawn Bates, an acclaimed author with twenty-one published works and more in progress, has dedicated her career to addressing critical issues through literature. Her journey from overcoming childhood adversity to becoming an internationally recognised author underscores her belief in the transformative power of the written word. Bates’s work aims to shine a light on pressing social issues and inspire positive change worldwide.

Being named a finalist for this award is truly an honour,” Bates remarked. “The topics I explore in my writing can be difficult, yet they are crucial for promoting awareness and driving social progress.  This recognition highlights the role of literature in shaping a better world.”

    Innovative Support for Aspiring Authors

In addition to her writing career, Bates actively supports emerging authors through her Author Academy and the 7 Week Author Course. This course, available both as a self-guided program and a live group coaching experience, is designed to help aspiring authors develop their skills and achieve their publishing goals. The next session of this course will commence on November 1, 2024.

The Author Academy provides affordable and high-quality training for both new and seasoned writers, offering them essential tools and strategies to succeed in the publishing world. “Being shortlisted for this award reflects the impact of our work in helping authors realize their potential,” Bates noted.

A Global Perspective on Social Justice

What distinguishes Bates in the Social Impact category is her extensive global experience. Her travels to over forty-four countries and proficiency in five languages have enriched her understanding of diverse cultures and belief systems. This global perspective informs her approach to writing and advocacy, allowing her to address human rights and social justice issues with greater depth and authenticity.

As a single mother, Bates navigates the complexities of balancing her personal and professional life, which inspired the creation of the 7 Week Author Course. This course aims to empower individuals to build successful writing careers while managing their personal responsibilities. “DBI is more than a publishing company; it’s a platform for social justice and human rights,” Bates explained. “We strive to offer education and resources that drive meaningful change and challenge traditional publishing practices.”

    Future Goals and Aspirations

DBI aims to empower one million authors through the 7 Week Author Course, demonstrating Bates’s commitment to global writer development. ‘Finding and embracing your unique voice is essential to achieving your full potential,’ Bates explained. Her additional goal is to establish herself as a leading global author coach, reinforcing her commitment to fostering impactful and socially conscious writing.

“Dawn Bates International encourages aspiring authors to embark on a transformative journey with the 7 Week Author Course. ‘This initiative goes beyond writing—it’s about making a profound impact and crafting a legacy that resonates worldwide,’ Bates stated.”
