SLB and Palo Alto Networks Boost Energy Cybersecurity

    Saira ArslanBy Saira Arslan20/08/2024Updated:20/08/2024

In response to the increasing digital transformation and associated cyber threats in the energy industry, global energy technology company SLB (NYSE: SLB) and cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW) have announced an expansion of their collaboration. This partnership aims to bolster cybersecurity measures for the energy sector, addressing the growing need for comprehensive solutions amid evolving threats.

    Combining Expertise for Enhanced Security

The expanded collaboration will see SLB and Palo Alto Networks merging their strengths to advance cybersecurity in the energy sector. SLB will integrate its cloud and edge technologies with Palo Alto Networks’ cutting-edge, platform-based cybersecurity solutions. This strategic alliance not only enhances SLB’s own security infrastructure but also aims to deliver innovative solutions that address emerging cyber threats. The partnership comes as digital solutions and artificial intelligence (AI) become increasingly prevalent in the energy industry.

Olivier Le Peuch, CEO of SLB, commented, “The advancement of our industry’s digital transformation underscores the importance of cybersecurity in our operations and the digital solutions we provide to our customers. Through this collaboration, we will further solidify our position as the digital partner of choice for our customers.”

    Integrating Advanced Cybersecurity Platforms

As part of the expanded collaboration, SLB will integrate several advanced cybersecurity platforms from Palo Alto Networks, including Prisma® SASE, Prisma Cloud, and Cortex XSIAM®. These Precision AI™-powered solutions will be embedded into SLB’s technology stack, ensuring comprehensive security across its network, cloud, and edge platforms. This integration will facilitate a secure and efficient environment for thousands of domain and AI users on SLB’s Delfi™ digital platform.

The partnership also focuses on developing and implementing cybersecurity solutions for edge products and services. This is particularly crucial as the industry trends towards automated and autonomous operations, where robust security measures are essential.

A Vision for Modern IT Transformation

Nikesh Arora, Chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks, emphasised the advantages of the partnership: ‘Platformization enables organizations to simplify management, cut total cost of ownership (TCO), and enhance security outcomes. We applaud SLB for their forward-thinking approach to shaping the future of the energy sector with secure and innovative solutions. Our shared vision for modern IT transformation through platformization aligns with our commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and advancing technology. Our goal is to build a robust and secure energy ecosystem that can effectively tackle future challenges.

    Building a Resilient Energy Ecosystem

The expansion of SLB and Palo Alto Networks’ collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing cybersecurity in the energy sector. By leveraging each company’s expertise, this partnership aims to provide robust security solutions that meet the demands of an increasingly digital and automated industry.

As SLB and Palo Alto Networks work together to implement these advanced solutions, they are setting a new standard for cybersecurity in the energy sector, ensuring that organizations are well-equipped to handle the complexities and risks of tomorrow’s digital landscape.
