Kent-based company Zendbox, a prominent eCommerce third-party logistics provider (3PL), has witnessed an impressive 300% growth in the past year, expanding from 20 to 80 employees and from one to four advanced fulfilment centres. With its market-leading 10pm cut-off time, sustainable business practices, and advanced inventory management technology, Zendbox enables direct-to-consumer (D2C) retailers to compete with “eCommerce giants.”
Zendbox specialises in order fulfilment for rapidly growing SMEs and established brands, including PRIME, USN, Puresport, and fourfive. In 2023, the company processed more than three million orders, linking eCommerce platforms such as Shopify, eBay, and Amazon with its proprietary technology, Zendportal, which offers virtual warehousing, inventory analysis, and management. This helps retailers optimise their operations, providing greater insight into their supply chain processes.
James Khoury, Zendbox’s visionary CEO and founder, stated: “Amazon’s dominance over the eCommerce market is almost scary. 44% of all product searches, in fact, start with Amazon. While our clients sell on Amazon, they also face strong D2C competition from them. We are proud to be the third-party logistics provider of choice, for retail Davids wanting to take on the Goliaths of eCommerce.”
Khoury highlighted the potential growth of the eCommerce fulfilment industry, predicting that the global market is set to triple by 2030. “For us, scaling our operations is crucial if we are to take advantage of this expanding market. For our clients, investing in operations is vital to equipping them with the technology and scale needed to speed up order processing, improve customer satisfaction, and reduce costs.”
“We store over 100,000 fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in our top-tier fulfilment centres, covering 500,000 sq ft of space. As a technology-driven business, we maintain a 99.999% picking accuracy. Additionally, 99.7% of orders are received and dispatched on the same day, in part due to our later cut-off time. This allows SMEs and established brands to compete with Amazon by offering next-day delivery until 10pm.”
Rob Whitfield, founder of Complete Strength, has noted a positive impact from Zendbox’s 10pm cut-off time, commenting: “The majority of our orders come in the evening. When we had an earlier cut-off time, we missed out on sales. Now we’ve got a later cut-off time with Zendbox, we get fewer abandoned carts. We have also noticed customers are shopping with us simply because of the later cut-off time.”
