VitrA Tiles has officially launched its Aksaray solar power plant, taking another major step towards sustainable energy production.
As a leading name in the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by expanding its use of renewable energy. The launch of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the 3.5 MW rooftop solar power plant commissioned in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this project will allow the company to generate over half of its electricity in Türkiye from renewable sources this year.
Harnessing Solar Power for a Greener Tomorrow
The Aksaray facility is expected to produce enough electricity to supply 19,700 households annually. The site is equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each boasting a 550 Wp capacity, and will contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu reaffirmed the company’s long-term sustainability ambitions, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Installation of the Aksaray SPP began in April 2024, with electricity generation commencing in February 2025 after the completion of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and transmission lines. This project not only provides economic and environmental benefits but also reinforces VitrA Tiles’ leadership in sustainable energy solutions.
