Imperial & Emeritus Launch AI-Powered Nutrition Programme

    Sam AllcockBy Sam Allcock05/02/2025

Imperial College Business School Executive Education, in collaboration with Emeritus, has announced the launch of Nutrition for Health: Evidence-Based Tools and Strategies, a groundbreaking programme designed to reshape the understanding of nutrition and health.

Commencing in April 2025, this six-week, part-time executive education course aims to provide participants with the skills and scientific knowledge to navigate the complex relationship between food, health, and wellbeing. By offering evidence-based insights, the programme seeks to empower individuals to make informed dietary decisions that foster long-term health improvements at both personal and societal levels.

Bridging the Gap Between Science and Practical Application

In today’s world, where conflicting health information is widespread, this programme is set to play a crucial role in equipping learners with the ability to differentiate between fact and misinformation. By exploring the latest research in nutrition science, the course will offer insights into:

    • The science of digestion – Understanding how food is processed by the body and its impact on metabolic health.
    • Dietary patterns and health outcomes – Examining how different nutrition choices influence long-term wellbeing.
    • Nutrition across life stages – Analysing how dietary needs evolve from childhood to old age.
    • Combatting misinformation – Providing the tools to identify and challenge misleading nutritional claims.

Dr Federica Amati, Medical Scientist, Registered Public Health Nutritionist, and Nutrition Topic Lead at Imperial’s Faculty of Medicine, will lead the programme. She is also the Head Nutritionist at science and nutrition company ZOE and the author of the Sunday Times bestseller Every Body Should Know This — The Science of Eating for a Lifetime of Health.

A Timely Initiative for a Changing World

With modern lifestyle choices increasingly affecting public health, the need for evidence-based nutritional education has never been greater. Dr Amati emphasised the programme’s significance: “Making informed nutrition choices is essential for a long and healthy life. The overwhelming amount of conflicting health information makes it challenging to navigate today’s food landscape. This programme provides evidence-based tools to help participants make informed dietary choices. It enables them to understand food’s physiological impact, the public health and policy landscape shaping our food environments, and how to apply this knowledge for lasting wellbeing.”

The programme caters to a wide audience, from senior medical professionals to caregivers, wellness entrepreneurs, policymakers, and individuals with a personal interest in nutrition.

Driving Lasting Change in Public Health

David Brown, Director of Executive Education at Imperial, highlighted the broader impact of the course: “Our goal is to increase knowledge and shift attitudes and behaviours towards nutrition. This programme is designed for individuals across the food system, from healthcare professionals to those in food production, marketing, and policy-making. By making scientific and evidence-based nutrition education accessible, we aim to help people live longer, healthier lives.”

Through its partnership with Emeritus, a global leader in accessible and affordable education, Imperial aims to bring high-quality nutrition training to learners worldwide, ensuring professionals across the healthcare sector can apply these insights effectively.

Adi Hanash, Senior Vice President for Global Product Management at Emeritus, noted: “The Nutrition for Health programme bridges the gap between nutrition science and practical application. Learners will develop the skills to interpret scientific evidence, understand nutritional needs across life stages, and make informed dietary decisions to support long-term health and wellbeing.”

By equipping learners with scientifically backed knowledge, the programme is poised to create meaningful change, not only for individuals but also for communities and industries shaping the future of food and health.
