Venture Global has announced a generous commitment of $6 million over the next three years to support public school teachers and staff in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. This donation will enhance the annual compensation of 270 educators and support staff by approximately 15%. Cameron Parish hosts Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility, along with the upcoming CP2 LNG export facility.
A Commitment to Community
“Venture Global is honoured to be part of Cameron Parish and to give back to a community that has embraced us,” stated Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global. We are thrilled to show our appreciation and support the ongoing growth and opportunities in Cameron Parish by enhancing its public school system. Our donation will guarantee that every teacher and staff member receives a much-deserved salary increase, further invigorating an already high-performing education system to benefit future generations.
Strengthening Education in Cameron Parish
This significant donation is poised to enhance an already competitive school system, consistently ranked among the top in Louisiana. By increasing compensation, Venture Global aims to improve the Parish’s ability to attract and retain the skilled teachers and staff necessary for delivering high-quality education that families in Cameron Parish expect and deserve.
Governor Jeff Landry expressed his appreciation, stating, “From the very beginning, our Administration has worked to improve our education system and encourage people to return to Louisiana. This investment underscores that commitment. With the advancement of U.S. LNG and collaborations with companies such as Venture Global making substantial investments in frontline communities, the economy of Southwest Louisiana is thriving.” He continued, “I would like to express my gratitude to Venture Global for this crucial support for Louisiana’s educational system. Education is the backbone of our nation, and this investment will be transformative for Cameron Parish and the entire state.”
Endorsement from Local Education Leaders
Charley Lemons, Superintendent of Cameron Parish Schools, expressed enthusiasm for Venture Global’s generous donation. “We are thrilled about this support for our school teachers and staff. This contribution not only demonstrates their ongoing commitment to our parish but specifically highlights their dedication to our education system. Our educators work diligently to provide the best possible opportunities for students in Cameron Parish. Our district has consistently ranked among the best over the last decade, a testament to the remarkable achievements of our students and staff despite numerous challenges. This donation moves us closer to aligning teacher salaries in Cameron Parish with the national average.”
Ongoing Investment in Workforce Development
Venture Global’s new investment in Cameron Parish’s educators builds on its extensive commitments to workforce training and apprenticeship initiatives throughout Louisiana. The Will to Skill programme offers free skilled labour and technical training to frontline community members, equipping them with the skills needed to embark on successful trade careers. By the end of this year, the programme is projected to have graduated over 300 students since its launch in 2020, creating transformative opportunities for many families.
In addition, Venture Global has successfully completed its inaugural apprenticeship programme for operations and maintenance roles in Cameron Parish. All apprentices were selected from SOWELA Technical Community College and have successfully obtained full-time positions. The company plans to expand this programme in the future, increasing recruitment efforts and creating further opportunities across Southwest Louisiana.
