- New lighting system enhances iconic exterior
- To debut during Eid Al Etihad celebrations
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Emaar Properties has announced a groundbreaking lighting upgrade for the Burj Khalifa, incorporating advanced RGBW technology into its iconic façade. This state-of-the-art system will make its premiere during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on 1 December 2024, paving the way for the tower’s 15th anniversary on 4 January 2025.
The innovative system adds a vibrant spectrum of colours and dynamic lighting effects to the building’s exterior, creating a more engaging experience for visitors while reaffirming Dubai’s position as a leader in design and technological innovation.
The lighting transformation involved six months of preparation and testing to ensure precision. Replacing static lighting, the RGBW system introduces colour-changing, addressable fixtures capable of creating intricate patterns for both routine illuminations and celebratory events. These visuals seamlessly integrate with the Burj Khalifa’s media façade while maintaining its renowned architectural elegance.
Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director at Emaar Properties, remarked: “Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress. As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”
This project showcases the potential of merging technological ingenuity with artistic brilliance, setting a new benchmark for architectural lighting worldwide.
