    CKGSB & University of Sydney Launch Unicorn Program

    Strategic Alliance to Drive Future Unicorn Growth

    Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) and the University of Sydney announced a groundbreaking partnership in Sydney. This strategic alliance aims to cultivate the next generation of unicorn companies, focusing on new energy, digitalisation, and disruption within traditional industries. The initiative targets Australia and the Asia Pacific nations involved in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

    Signing Ceremony

    The agreement was signed by Bing Xiang, Founding Dean and Dean’s Distinguished Chair Professor of China Business and Globalization at CKGSB, and Leisa Sargent, Dean of the University of Sydney Business School. This partnership represents a significant step forward in advancing economic and social development through innovative business practices.

    “Unicorn companies are pivotal in driving economic disruption, which fuels development and social advancement,” Dean Xiang stated. This impact is vital for both advanced economies such as Australia and developing markets. Promoting upward social mobility, especially among young people, is a central focus of this initiative.” Since 2015, CKGSB has been a pioneer in offering specialised programmes tailored to unicorn and prospective unicorn founders, setting a benchmark in business education.

    Global Ecosystem for Unicorns

    Dean Xiang elaborated on CKGSB’s commitment: “We have collaborated with leading institutions to build a global ecosystem designed for the future unicorns. This programme emphasizes global responsibility, social purpose, and a long-term vision. Partnering with the University of Sydney aligns with our mission to support sustainable growth in Australia and the broader RCEP region.”

    Integration of Digital and ESG Strategies

    Professor Sargent highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “This partnership marks a major advancement in integrating cutting-edge digital and ESG strategies into traditional sectors. Our goal is to enrich our commitment to developing industry-ready leaders capable of navigating and innovating within complex, global markets.”

    Leveraging Strengths for a Dynamic Ecosystem

    The partnership combines CKGSB’s expertise in educating future unicorn leaders with the University of Sydney Business School’s extensive research and support for entrepreneurial ecosystems across Australia and Asia. The programme aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience that prepares participants for leadership roles in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

    The new programme will begin accepting applications and is scheduled to take place from 11-14 February 2025 in Sydney. It offers a unique opportunity for aspiring unicorn founders to gain valuable insights and skills necessary for leading innovative ventures in new energy and industrial disruption.
