    Maldives to Get Baccarat’s Premier Resort by 2027

    SH Hotels & Resorts, helmed by Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group, has unveiled plans to launch the Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives in 2027. This groundbreaking project will span over 111 acres across five interconnected islands in the South Malé Atoll, promising an unparalleled level of luxury in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. The development will set new standards for opulence and sophistication, integrating seamlessly into the pristine environment of the Maldives.

    A Fusion of Elegance and Modern Sophistication

    Barry Sternlicht shared his excitement about the venture, saying, “We are delighted to unveil Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives, where the classic sophistication of Baccarat meets the tranquil allure of the Maldivian landscape.  Our aim is to craft not just a place to stay, but an extraordinary experience that epitomises luxury living amidst a breathtaking backdrop. This resort will offer a unique fusion of Baccarat’s heritage with the natural splendor of this idyllic locale.”

    A Milestone for Baccarat Hotels & Resorts

We are poised to redefine luxury in an already remarkable region, and we believe this property will set a new benchmark for excellence. Our goal is to create a sanctuary that reflects the pinnacle of refinement and sophistication, bringing Baccarat’s legendary style to a new audience.”

    A Historic Collaboration

    Tristan Parker, Director – Development of MDC Investments LLC, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, saying, “We are proud to partner with Baccarat Hotels, a name synonymous with luxury for over two centuries. This initiative introduces Baccarat’s first hotel and residences in the Asia Pacific region, adding a new and prestigious chapter to the brand’s distinguished history. It represents a milestone not only for our partnership but also for luxury hospitality in the region.”

    An Idyllic Location and Luxurious Accommodations

    The resort will be conveniently located just 30 minutes by boat from Malé’s Velana International Airport. It will feature over 50 hotel villas and 53 private residences, including lavish six- and seven-bedroom mansions and exclusive eight- and nine-bedroom Private Islands. Designed by HKS and 1508 London, the resort will combine modern elegance with tropical sophistication, offering stunning views of the lagoon and pristine beaches. Each villa and residence will be crafted with the highest attention to detail, ensuring an extraordinary level of comfort and style.

    Exceptional Dining and Leisure Offerings

    Guests will indulge in world-class dining experiences, with specialty restaurants led by renowned chefs who will create memorable culinary journeys. The resort will offer an array of leisure activities, including a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, and traditional Maldivian fishing excursions.
